Kiwanis celebrates 75th anniversary
The Los Gatos Kiwanis Club celebrates its 75th anniversary with a dinner event on March 6 at 5:30 p.m. at La Rinconada Country Club, 14595 Clearview Drive in Los Gatos. Past and present Kiwanis members, as well as the general public, are invited.
During the program, club officers will make a presentation to the town of three new benches to be placed along the Los Gatos Creek Trail. One of them is in memory of local optometrist Dr. Ben Nerenberg, the club's longest standing member and past president who recently passed away. Mayor Jan Hutchins will accept the gift of benches. Other dignitaries expected to attend the celebration are Bob Jolley, international vice president of Kiwanis International, and Terri Newman, governor elect of the California/Nevada/Hawaii district of Kiwanis International. Representatives from the offices of California Sen. Byron Sher and 24th District Assemblyman Jim Cunneen will be on hand to issue proclamations.
D.J. LaForge Mobile D.J. Service will provide dance music from the 1940s through the 1990s. Cost for the anniversary celebration is $45 per person. For more information, call Ernie Patterson at 354-6558.
