Vic Collord leaves trails committee
After 20 years on the Trails and Bikeways Committee, Vic Collord is giving up his seat. Councilmembers presented Collord with a commendation Monday.
Collord, a Pearl Harbor survivor who came to the town in 1946 while he was still in the U.S. Navy, has been active in the community almost as long as he's been a part of it.
He's been active with Boy Scout troop #539 for 32 years, and has given to the Los Gatos Community Foundation Endowment Fund.
Along with former Town Forester Jim Sugai, Collord regularly went out during the week to maintain trails, trim trees and pick up litter.
One of Collord's biggest projects was in 1991, when he and a group of volunteers cleared the way for the last link in the Los Gatos Creek Trail between Miles Avenue and Roberts Road.
Collord, 76, an avid birdwatcher and outdoorsman, says he plans to continue working for the outdoor gardening program at Los Gatos High School.
Monte Sereno ready to adopt new City Code
The Monte Sereno City Council introduces the final version of its revised Municipal Code for a reading at the March 2 council meeting.
The council finalized the code Jan. 16, but the introduction was delayed for the city to comply with state environmental regulations.
The new code includes a revised ordinance limiting how accessory structures may be built on a lot, and excludes basements from counting toward the total livable square footage of a home.
For residents who want to discuss city issues, Mayor Jack Lucas will hold a Coffee with the Mayor March 5 at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall.
