    Benedetti, Narducci at state meet

    By Dick Sparrer

The winter sports season is giving way to spring at Los Gatos High School... for most athletes, anyway.

Dan Benedetti and Mike Narducci aren't quite through for the winter, at least not for another week. The two Los Gatos wrestlers have qualified for the state meet set for March 5-6 at the University of the Pacific's Spanos Center in Stockton.

The two seniors each finished fourth at the Central Coast Section finals a week ago to earn their places in the state field. Benedetti ended up fourth at 142 pounds, and Narducci finished fourth at 189 pounds.

Benedetti posted a 4-2 record at CCS to clinch fourth place in his weight class. He nailed a pin and added three decision wins.

Narducci had to fight back from an early loss to record five straight wins to get into the third-place match at CCS. Three of his five wins were by fall, and the fifth was a tight 6-4 decision win. He lost a 3-2 heartbreaker in the battle for third.
