Vacancies offer LG residents a chance to get involved in town

Want to turn attitudes into action? The town of Los Gatos is looking for community members to fill vacancies on the board of appeals, the community services commission, the parking commission and the arts selection panel.

There are two voluntary positions available on all the commissions, except for the arts selection panel, which has three. Town residency is a requirement.

Filing deadline is Nov. 5 for the arts selection panel, with interviews following on Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The deadline is Dec. 3 for all other commissions; interviews will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 20. Applications are available from the town clerk, 110 E. Main St. Call 408.354.6834 for more information.

Los Gatos Mobile Home Park mediation continues

Los Gatos Mobile Home Park residents and park owner Doug McNelly will meet for the second time on Oct. 30 at 11:30 p.m. to discuss compensation for residents who will be displaced by park conversion.

Town attorney Orry Korb told the Town Council at the Oct. 18 meeting that mediator David Finch had agreed to be more flexible with his schedule to accommodate residents who are unable to meet during normal business hours.

The conversion process promises to be a long one--determining the value of the mobile homes and the land is proving to be difficult. The town has pledged to help find alternative low-income housing for displaced residents.
