    The Prowler

From children to teenagers to adults of all ages--Cat Town offers activities for everyone!

Kids 4 and older will enjoy the upcoming afternoon programs at the Los Gatos Public Library. On Nov. 4, feathers will fly at the Happy Birds' Performing Parrot Show. Nov. 11 brings storyteller Clara Yen to the library. All programs begin at 3:15 p.m.; for more info, call 408.354.6893.

The non-profit Youth Science Institute also appeals to the younger set. Among its afternoon science classes are Snake Survival, Nov. 1-4, and Earth Art, Nov. 8-11. The former lets kids meet a real snake, study a snake skeleton and learn about some of the 2,400 snake species on earth. The latter lets children use natural and recycled materials to design unique art objects or sculptures.

Classes at the YSI's Vasona Park Nature Center are open to pre-kindergartners through third-graders. Times and dates vary depending on age group. For info, call the YSI at 408.356.4945.

The Parenting Continuum, a joint project between Community Against Substance Abuse, A Place for Teens and the Teen & Family Counseling Center, offers a family coaching workshop on Oct. 28, Nov. 4 and Nov. 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Los Gatos Neighborhood Center. The workshop is for all family members. Call 408.354.7648 ext. 706 to register.

Finally, don't miss the exhibit by Betty O'Hare and Kristin Herrera from Nov. 4 through Dec. 29 at the Los Gatos Museum of Fine Art and Natural History at 4 Tait Ave. O'Hare paints "fantasy landscapes," while Herrera crafts ingenious, mixed-media "memory boxes." The reception will be on Nov. 14, 1-4 p.m.
