    Baseball Camp

    He was one of the finest baseball players the Santa Clara Valley has produced.

    And now Mark O'Brien is giving something back to the community as he hosts the annual Stanford baseball camps for players ages 12-18 on the Stanford campus.

    The camps will feature hitting and defense, with a special camp for pitchers ages 13-18. Camps will be held Nov. 26-28, Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29 at Sunken Diamond, and the cost is $110 per session.

    O'Brien starred on the diamond at St. Francis High School before going to on excel at both De Anza Community College and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. He later coached at each college before taking a position as an assistant coach at Stanford. O'Brien was the first-base coach for the Cardinal team that competed in the NCAA World Series last spring.

    Roller Hockey

    The Southwest YMCA will host Saturday morning roller hockey leagues for beginner and intermediate players ages 6-11. League play begins Jan. 8, and there will be one weeknight practice each week. The cost is $80, plus program membership. For more information, call 408.370.1877, ext. 19.

    Run for the Law

    Run for the Law, a 5K walk and 10K run, will be held Nov. 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the West Valley Courthouse, 14205 Capri Drive in Los Gatos.

    The entry fee is $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the event. The race will also feature a special corporate challenge.

    The courthouse is on the corner of Capri and Knowles, one block north of Winchester between Los Gatos and Campbell.
