City declaresNational Public
Works Week
The city council declared May 18-24 National Public Works Week in the city of Campbell.
The declaration is in recognition of the city's public works employees whose jobs are to manage the design, construction, maintenance and/or operation of major public works projects in the city.
The projects directly affect the health and safety of the community, making the jobs of public works employees critical. In 1960, the American Public Works Association launched a public education campaign to draw attention to the importance of public works in community life.
Jack Fischer Park
crosswalk in
design phase
City planners are working on the design plans for a crosswalk that will go at the intersection of Pollard Road and Abbott Avenue near Jack Fischer Park.
Although the park is located in Campbell, many Los Gatos residents cross Pollard Road to use it. Through a compromise between the two municipalities, Campbell is in charge of the design and Los Gatos will pay for and manage construction of the crosswalk.
The town of Los Gatos has included the project in its next fiscal year budget as a capital improvement project.
Los Gatos public works director Kevin Rohani said the design stage will likely be complete this summer, with construction beginning in the fall.
